My Reflection:
Reflecting on the symposium, I realized how challenging it is to maintain a corrupt-free government. This struggle gave rise to groups like the "New People's Army" (NPA), which originally claimed to serve the people without expecting anything in return, helping for "free" as they said. However, their movement took a dark turn, becoming violent and engaging in unjustified killings, all while opposing the government.
I was particularly moved by Ate Chenchen's story, a former NPA member. Her experiences were horrific, marked by violence and cruelty with no remorse. Hearing her recount those events left a lasting impact on me.
I also learned that financial hardship doesn't have to be a barrier to education. A successful teacher, who went from rags to riches through sheer determination, proved that dedication can overcome even the toughest circumstances.
